Lexmark printer commended

September 7th, 2010

The Lexmark Prospect Pro205 printer has been recommended to those looking for office equipment on a budget.

It has a simpler design than the high-end machines in the firm's Pro range, pointed out Trusted Reviews writer Simon Williams, but offers “much of the same functionality at considerably lower cost”.

He highlighted the 2.5 inch colour LCD panel, saying it is “bright and clear and has enough room to display decent thumbnails and menus“.

There is a memory card slot for SD, MemoryStick and xD cards and a PictBridge socket for digital cameras, making it a great choice of computer accessory no matter what camera is used.

Furthermore, the printer has green technology qualities thanks to its Economode, which saves ink without making a big difference to print quality.

“Mr Williams concluded that the product's print quality, speed and facilities "make it a worthwhile machine to consider".

The Canon I-Sensys LBP3010 has also been recommended by the reviewer and was recommended for printing out home office documents and school essays.ADNFCR-3050-ID-800055032-ADNFCR

Energy saving light bulbs ‘can deliver significant savings’

September 3rd, 2010

Fitting energy saving light bulbs in the home can see people save a significant amount of money.

So claims, Michael Holmes, spokesperson for the National Home Improvement Show, who points out that while such home energy saving products cost around £3 each, in the long run they will more than pay for themselves in the form of lower electricity bills.

Installing such light bulbs, he states, can deliver annual savings of up to £40.

However, there are several other "small but effective changes" people can make in terms of making their home greener. Among such measures, he states, include using a dishwasher – which can use less water than doing the washing up by hand – and installing a displacement device to reduce the amount of water used with each toilet flush.

In comments made last month, HomeSun chief executive Daniel Green claimed that buying solar panels is an effective way for people to demonstrate their commitment to investing in alternative energy and reduce their utility bills.ADNFCR-3050-ID-800050533-ADNFCR
